Shoe Designer Kate Cann is currently embarking upon her second year of a degree in Design and Development for the Fashion industries (Footwear).

Kate has always had a passion for shoe design and started her training with a BND in Art and design. She specialised in 3D product design, splitting her focus between the Fashion and Problem solving parts of the course and working with both metal and fabric. Having completed the BND she went onto London College of Fashion to complete a foundation course and brush up on her skills before commencing her degree. She covers all processes of shoe design from the initial design idea right through to marketing. Kate counts her main inspirations as Vivienne Westwood and Emily Jo Gibbs - an accessories designer who works with both hard and soft materials.

Kate was approached by Feet Fairies in 2007 with a brief to come up with a design for lightweight, foldable pumps and to source suitable material. The pumps had to be cute, light, practical and come in under £10 retail price. A tall order! Feet Fairies think that Kate has done a fabulous job and her fantastic design will save the soles of women all over the country!
